General teaching resources

  • American Association of Teachers of German
  • American Association of Teachers of French
  • American Association of Teachers of Italian
  • Teaching aids from Swissworld.org. Factsheets about Switzerland, unit on Swiss youth culture, ideas for working with website, fun quizzes and a canton game. Careful - teaching resources are sparse in comparison to US American teaching resources.
  • DVDs from Swissworld.org. Extensive dvd collection with teaching resources. Not all dvds are available in all languages; in fact, many dvds are in English. Language very advanced and, although there is teacher's corner, no worksheets tailored to non-native speakers.
  • Switzerland in pictures. More than 1,000 pictures about all things Swiss: free of charge and no copyright restrictions, divided into 17 categories. For use outside Switzerland by newspapers and magazines as well as embassies abroad. Must be ordered through your local Swiss embassy. Not available online.
  • Switzerland and the Holocaust Assets: Website by New York Times columnist Bruno
Guissani. Web site was active between June 1997 to July 2001 and covers
the controversy about the actions of Switzerland and other countries
during and after Second World War.
  • Order Swiss films from Facets Multimedia. All films subtitled!
  • Order Swiss films directly from Artfilm.ch. Some films in Swiss German, most have subtitles though. They take credit cards!
  • Hand out with links to Swiss websites for general information, politics, migration, film, literature, national anthem, swiss flag, etc. Attached File  Die_Schweiz_handout.doc ( 53K ) Number of downloads: 5
